The LA Department of Corrections is seeking dependable and fair individuals to fill an important role in our department as CORRECTIONAL OFFICER. This position is vital in the department as it is the front-line individual who enforces the custody and control of inmates in a State penal institution. An officer who is assertive and accountable can make a difference in the day-to-day operation of a facility working to rehabilitate individuals. THIS POSITION WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH INMATES RECEIVING CARE AT THE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER OF NEW ORLEANS.

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR One year of experience in any field. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current driver's license.
